‘Crying at the Discoteque’ is written and produced by Anders Hansson, Alexander Bard, Michael Goulos, Anders Wollbeck and Johan Strandkvist with a sample from French disco group Sheila and B. Devotion’s 1979 hit, ‘Spacer’, co-written by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.
The group was formed back in 1998 with Andreas Lundstedt, Tess Merkel, and Annika ‘Annikafiore’ Kjærgaard fronting the band, later joined by Magnus Carlsson for some years making the trio a quartet before going back to being a trio with Lina Hedlund instead of Annika.
Alcazar became one of the most prominent nu-disco bands mixing late 1970s US disco, synthesizer-heavy 1980s European dance music styles, and early 1990s electronic dance music.
